NUTRITION AND DIETETICS DEPARTMENT The department of nutrition and dietetics offers the following services Food Services Nutritious and delicious vegetarian meals are available for our patients, guardians and staff. We take into consideration patient medical conditions such that we provide regular diet, consistent carbohydrate diet, dysphagia diet, low sat low fat meal and clear liquids. Medical Nutrition Therapeutic Services At Blantyre Adventist hospital, we provide different therapeutic nutrition services which include oral nutrition therapy, enteral nutrition therapy and Total Parenteral nutrition depending on patients’ nutritional requirements, medical indications and contraindications. Nutrition counselling and education We also provide nutrition counselling and education sessions to all clients and patients who have diet related conditions. These include non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, overweight and obesity, chronic kidney diseases and many more. We provide practical nutritional advice with reference to the most recent scientific research findings. The registered dietitian advises, educates, informs and instructs the clients and patients in such a way that the client/patient acquires knowledge.
